Jeff Lewis – Owner of the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre

Meet Jeff Lewis, owner of the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre within the lovely Afan Valley. Read on to find out why this area is so special to him.

“I’m Glyncorrwg born and bred, so I’m incredibly passionate about the area and the local mountain bike scene.

“I’m lucky enough to own the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre, and we’ve been here for the past six years. My wife worked for the previous two owners, so she’s done a 20-year stint here and she still loves it! We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to buy the Centre, and we’re trying to move forward and improve a little bit each year.

“This part of the world is incredible, and when I’m not in here working with bikes, I’m out there on the trails riding them. We’re lucky enough to be based in the world’s first purpose-built mountain bike area in Britain. It was groundbreaking when it was built some 20 years ago because there was nothing like it anywhere else.

“I love the trails here, the terrain is steep and rugged which makes for some tough riding, but it’s a fantastic trail network and there’s something for everyone. We’re getting a good reputation for off-piste riding now, which is attracting a diverse range of riders to the area.

“Everybody’s friendly and everybody’s helpful – it’s a great place to come and visit.

“It’s been a challenge running this place, but it’s been one of my favourite challenges yet. Hopefully our children and grandchildren can keep it going after we’ve come to the end of our journey.”
